Re-purpose : Used Crayons

Do u  have too many old and broken crayons that you don't know what to do with? We were in a similar situation and so was Ru and U. Here is our bag full of crayons..

With a blade I carefully cut the wrapper lengthwise and passed it on to the kids to peel them off. This itself was an activity on its own. They loved doing that.

Now, that we had all those peeled crayons, we broke them into small pieces. We had the oven preheated at 250.

The kids made their own color combinations into a mini muffin pan.

Then we baked it for about 10 minutes to melt all the crayons. We let it set again at room temperature for another 10-15 minutes.
S was too impatient and poked her finger into the last one on the bottom right while it was still wet.

Then we inverted them onto a plate. If you find them hard to invert, put the tray in the freezer for a few minutes..

Look at these beauties...  I would like to name the green and brown one 'Mint Chocolate Chip'. Awesome job kids, High-Five!!!

And best of all, they are fun to color with and don't break as often as the traditional ones..

S had a little accident..

Last night when we were winding down for bed and S went into the restroom to wash up, she slipped and hurt herself. She has a little bump on her head and her left elbow got dislocated (Nursemaid's Elbow), again! She was in a lot of pain and I tried to snap it back in place according to her pediatrician's instructions and it seemed better and she could move her arm. She went to sleep on our bed but still seemed in some pain which we assumed would be soreness. Around 2-ish she was twisting and turning again so I woke up hubby and asked him to try and snap it back in place as I may have just done it partially. So he attempted again but after much resistance but along with patience on S's part, it finally got snapped in place. Alhamdulillah!  (Jazakallah to Hubby!!!) It was around 2:30 by the time she started feeling better. After giving her abbu a big hug, she requested if she could get an Icee! (Yes, at 2:30am) I tried my luck and made homemade Icee with Rooh Afza...She took a sip but wasn't thrilled.. Then both father daughter went to get her an Icee from the gas station and ofcourse along with some M&M's. That's another story that she only took a sip from the Icee and a few M&M's before she went into Lala land.

She is fine now, Alhamdulillah. Sipping her Icee (No ice in there now) from one hand and holding her M&m's in the other.

Door Hangers for Suhoor

I saw this idea somewhere on the internet and can't backtrack where I had seen it. If you you are aware, please let me know so I can give the due credit, inshaAllah.

Ru and U were kind enough to bring in the foam sheets and they got N, R and S started right away.

I am missing the red one.. where are the pictures of the red one, girls??

Kids' Decoupaging

Using some tissue paper and canvas, Ru and U decoupaged in their favorite colors here:

And N and R used some votive holders and decoupaged them:

(I asked the kids to take pictures, this one didn't come out too well but the rest are great)

And finally here is S's:

S, " I can't walk fast abbu, my shoes are a little loose."

This is how S ended up at walmart, Wallahu Alam!

N had taken these shoes out for donations and these were by the door. Hubby was making a late-night-quick-trip to Walmart and S wanted to join him. (in her PJ's - well.. its walmart, c'mon) She rushed after him with whatever shoes she could find by the door. While shopping, S had a hard time catching up with hubby (no wonder!) and that's when the reason was discovered!!!

A wonderful surprise!!

This morning, hubby and I were fortunate enough to sleep in for a little bit while a huge surprise was awaiting us. When N gave us a nudge to announce that breakfast was on the table, we were left speechless! N had toasted the pancakes and layed down the table with all the toppings and fix'ins. She worked hard to replicate the IHOP environment where we visited just a couple of weeks ago. S had already settled down on her seat and started off with her pancakes that N had served her already. We were pleasantly surprised!!
Meanwhile, R took much pride in babysitting Z. He had managed to get her out of the crib safely and got her in the living room on her play mat. He entertained her and made sure that she is happy so mummy and abbu doesn't wake up. He also filled up her milk bottle and was done feeding her by the time we got out of bed.
We were so pleased!! But at the same time, we felt that they are growing up too fast too soon.( Human nature? Never satisfied, right ?)
What a beautiful way to kick off the day, Alhamdulillah! All credit goes to N and R (and of course S and Z for not ruining their surprise) ! JazakAllah for your thoughtfulness. We love you!!!

More Foam Friends..

While N, R and S were over at Ru and U, with all the fun things they did, this was something that had to be journal-ed for their sweet memories to be cherished later..

The Nail clippers gets a Face-Lift!!

N, R and S spent the day at Ru and U yesterday and I finally found some time to color-code the nail cutters that I had been meaning to do in such a long while. Everyone prefers a different clipper in the family but they all look alike..  So here they are!

Yes, I know they are not different colors but what better excuse to put this cute fabric on them to differentiate them from one another??

Fun Foam Creatures..

Today I made a BIG Blunder. We had a pretty late night yesterday (2:00am!!). This morning, got the kids all ready and picked up Ru and U and on the way to Lowes for the 'Build and Grow Clinic', I realized that we had reserved for next week instead of today. I announced it to the kids and got them mentally prepared that we could just try to attend today's session or go home and do some fun craft project.Either ways, they were excited. Lowes was a no-go! We explored around Lowes for a while and then got home. The kids started off on their foam creatures right away. Well, not right , right away but ..you know what I mean! Ofcourse they spent a good fifteen minutes deciding who wants what. And then, they started right away :)

Ru made a Froggie(she wanted the shark), U made a Ladybug, N settled for a turtle (she wanted the froggie), R was persistent for a Shark and S got her hands on the bunny. I must admit that they all worked it out between themselves and I did not have to intervene. Good Job guys!!
